I Helped A 28-Year-Old Face Her Fear Of Open Water
I think too many people think zone 2 is a walk in the park. I like Dr Inigo San Millán description of zone 2. You can talk but it don't want to and a long zone 2 hurts. You can't go off heart rate. In 56, going off the calculations for my age I thought my zone 2 was about 105-115 HR. I went and did a properly VO2 Max and lactate test. When the results came back a week later from the university. My True zone 2 is 138-152 HR because of my fitness. I can tell you now, doing an 60-180 minutes in this zone is not easy but it is doable because that's where I'm at.
forget lactat. you need ur max heart rate, my is 187. and then you have to buy a thing like polar h10 to measure ur heart rate while training. stay always on 50-70% of your max heart rate zone, or zone 2, and improve. thats it. no need to go higher than 75% , there are no benefits only risks and for some people even dangerous. even the best runner oder other athletes train 80-90% of their time on this zone
When was the original broadcast of the Nick episode? Has anyone tackled the Truffle project? I can't stop thinking about it.
Really enjoyed this conversation and learning more about Craig and his work. I enjoyed his deliberate cadence in speech which by nature makes you tune in. Thank you for sharing your ways. If I may share a contemporary artist Walton Ford- Tim you might enjoy his work. He paints massive watercolors and tells stories and interprets myths from the perspective of animals. I have recently found out about him and was lucky to see his recent show at the ateneo Veneto in Venice last month. He also purchased land that he left for nature to take over as his legacy. I love this idea… thanks again for inspiring conversation.
I loves this episode! Nick's first-principles approach to everything is fantastic. Without weird restaurant issues, “Seinfeld” wouldn't have been a show. (Also, “Friends” wouldn't have existed if they had cell phones.)
"We have the science, we have the research -- we're just not applying it." As a former teacher, this has by far depressed me the most. It's all here, but society insists on the harmful ways, feeding into the cycle of trauma. A big thank you to Gabor Maté to continuously trying to give these topics more attention!
I smoke ja ja ja 🤣
Taiwan matters because the US cannot accept they are an imperial power in decline, so they are decided to drag the planet to a global conflict over an island in the other end of the planet It is the thucydides trap once again. US doesn't care about democracy. US cares about power.
8:30 the actual answer is go to Magnus medical , currently there are currently 4 clinics that have it and will have much more in the coming months this year , they use the SAINT protocol which means they will do an fMRI first The other clinics use accelerated TMS which is unguided TMS , it's not a problem but less accurate than the guided one A good middle ground is prTMS or MeRT which is cheaper and use EEG to have better outcomes Another point is you can't buy TMS online like they said , what they are talking about is TDCS this is completely different and not dangerous

Are you thee Tim Ferriss of the 24-Hour Workweek?
I don't understand why Tim reuploads old stuff. It's still up there. I know where to find it. Lazy content to sell more ads.

What a great conversation! Both the interviewer and the interviewee delved into and elucidated deep, difficult subjects of national security and democracy. Thank you both so much! One incongruity I found, however, was the supposed power and intention of the Chinese Communist Party and its rather weak information manipulation game when it came to protecting the CCP's interest in and influence of its American Tik Tok branch. Can you tell me why that is? I saw some of the efforts to protest that law that will require the transfer of control of Tik Tok to an American citizen or company. Unlike the pro-Palestinian campus demonstrations, the Tik Tok protests were small, too uniform to look organic, and there had been no initial groundwork, it seems, to rile Americans up to protest to stop that transfer. Can you tell me why that is? Russia is the master of information manipulation. If there is a Russian interest anywhere in the world, like in Ukraine, Russia has already lain the groundwork to exploit divisions in the relevant societies for maximum benefit to Russia. So in essense, I'm asking: Why the heck was China's disinfo ground game so poor when it came to possibly the most significant information weapon thus far invented - that of our young people's emotional attachment and vulnerability to China's formidable Tik Tok algorithms?
What a duet!🎉
I am so glad l don't live in that world, so far from the human touch.

Went through a break-up today, and this conversation was a good reminder for what I needed. Thank you!
Stay strong my friend!!! You are gonna bounce back from this setback and be stronger than ever before. Your pain and suffering will become your biggest asset in which you use to build your confidence and new life and lifestyle from!!! You are amazing and deserve everything you dream of and desire. Keep that head up and never quit.
I thought these two were the same person for a while😂
This still DOESN'T explain what key difference between Zone 3 and Zone 2 feels like. The RPE difference, if it supposedly "is really the best way to do it and far more accurate than heart rate". I can start a run / bike at a low end of my zone 2 based on my Garmin measured lactate threshold test and maximum heart rate, and after 1-2 hours my heart rate at the same level of exertion be creeping into zone 3 and I'll have to dial my effort back down. I try to maintain breathing that is very manageable (3-4 strides/pedals on breathing in, same breathing out). The RPE of 'feeling like you could go on forever' feels like my zone 2, and also the lower part of my zone 3. I still fail to see the distinction and how to be a better judge of this. I wish Peter and/or other experts could produce a comprehensive RPE descriptor across each of the zones (feeling, how long you can keep it up, etc) then that could truly help if the tech we use is supposedly inaccurate, and I sure as hell won't be pricking my fingers or ears during cardio sessions!
In the video he mentioned that for zone 2 the best approach is 3hrs a week with 4x 45min or 3x 60min training sessions. What is the effectiveness of one 3hr training or two 90min sessions? Does it matter how you get to 3hrs a week?
What a combo, unexpected
Wish reverie wasnt so expensive!
If you do zone 5 immediately after finishing your zone 2 workout does it still count as one zone 2 workout and one zone 5 workout? Or do they need to be more acutely separated?
🧡 This. But; When are you and Trevor Noah going to talk? I feel like that episode could take multiples. And everyone would be so on board with that.
AMEN
AMEN

Thanks for this. Dr Mate is always therapeutic to listen to. Dr Miller was a new and very valuable voice for me.
Listened to you for many years, I know the respect that you have for China. It's great that you ask what is the proof, why should we trust you. Can you create short clips on this for our Tik Tok generation to digest. Though the Chinese government would never admit it, I think they would respect someone like you, who is not the typical lazy, dumb, selfish, arrogant American.
Great episode with Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. BJ Miller on The Tim Ferriss Show! Loved the insightful discussions on different topics. Thanks for putting together such an engaging episode!
